Garage Sales and Cultural Exegesis

I normally do not leave the house before 7:30am, without a really good reason. I made an exception this morning for my wife and mother. I went out to neighborhood garage sales this morning with my mother, sister, and Sydnie. We had traveled to 5 or 6 different neighborhoods and entered the garage of dozens and dozens of families before noon.

So what can you learn about people while going through their garage sale? You can learn about their likes, their interests, their hobbies, and much more. Really everything you need to begin building affinity groups in specific neighborhoods. Have you ever thought about going to garage sales as a way to discover more about the field where you are to sow?

What other ways are you discovering the people and passions that surround your church or ministry?
