Sydnie and I are proud to announce the birth of Margot Ann Davidson this past Monday at 9:24pm. She was 9lbs and 2ozs. I have the next couple of weeks to hang around the house with her and Sydnie. She is truely amazing. I certainly feel as though I have been given a great responsibility and a great joy. I am having a blast and getting very little sleep. On the plus side I believe that Margot is helping me to become a morning person.

Sydnie and I went to get an ultrasound today at the urging of the doctor who was concerned about the size of the baby. The baby is not supposed to be due until August 21st, but because the baby now weighs 8 lbs and 12 ozs they have decided that we shall have the baby on August 10th instead. Just when I thought I had a few more weeks to play video games and go to the movies the girls have gotten together to change my plans. I hope this is not a habit that is forming.
So a week from now I will officially become a father. I may have a shirt that says World’s Newest Dad, which will really only last a 1/4 of second at which time another child will be born somewhere else in the world and another poor sap will become The World’s Newest Dad. 129 million babies are born every year and I will take posession of a little girl that is more than 1 in a million.
Let the countdown begin. Live change in T-minus….
Can you believe that in about one month I will take possession of a baby? That’s just crazy people. I am totally getting ready for our trip to the hospital. I am starting to assemble the bags we will take to the hospital. So that is where you can lend your advice. Apparently our hospital doesn’t have a DVD player in the room so if I want to watch DVDs while I am there I am going to have to bring my own, like I will have time to watch the Godfather Trilogy while Sydnie is in labor.
Anyways, for you veterans out there, give me the skinny on what I really need to take to hospital with me. Snacks, warm clothes, XBOX, phone charger, pillows, catcher’s mitt???
Sydnie and I went to Woodward this past weekend for a Baby shower and to take some maternity pics with her dad who is photographer. Check out Sydnie’s blog to see some of the pictures from the weekend.
One of the things that Sydnie and I really did not get to participate in at our last church was small groups. Between helping to lead worship and working in the student ministry we missed all the meetings. Here at Arrow Heights we have been so fortunate to be able to meet in a LIFEgroup on Sunday nights with an amazing bunch of people. We spend about an hour eating and talking and then about an hour going through the lesson. It has really proven to me as someone who has been an overseer of many small groups the importance of a LIFEgroup in a person development spiritually and in many other facets of life.
We are currently studying Ephesians and in my preperation for last night I ran across a verse that I told our group would be a great motto.
“For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints….”
The verses continue on, but what is striking to me is the blessing that Paul is wishing for them because of the way they have blessed him and honored God by their “faith in the Lord Jesus” and their “love toward all saints.” SO my prayer become that our group would become a group known for their faith in Jesus and their love toward the saints.
May we continue to lead and lean on each other.
