Choco-holic…ahhhhhhh

logo

snowballs-209x267      I reached into my stocking this years and pulled out many things.  I got dress socks and cologne, but my favorite stocking stuffer by far are these chocolate truffles from Lindt.  They are the best tasting milk chocolate I can remember.  They have a cool white chocolate center and by cool I mean that it seems colder than the outside.  Add this to the list of things that you can do to make my day.  They are supposed to be limited edition so if you find them buy and prepare for bliss.  I only have a few left and have begun taking my wife’s.  I have a whole year to make it back onto the nice list.

A Very Chilly Week

logo

It has been a very chilly week in Green Country this week.  Ice storms moved through and knocked out power to most of the area.  We lost power at our house for several days, but did figure out how to start the gas fireplace.  We never lost power or the Internet at the church.  The church has been a disaster relief center all week long.  We have had people coming to the church to sleep, eat, and pick up supplies.  The food has been great and it is amazing to see our people minister during this time.  I know that God is working through Arrow Heights and our people to touch the hearts of our neighbors.  How were you affected by the storm?  How did God use the storm to provide you the opportunity to share with your neighbors?

Sin City

Today I am beginning to prepare for a semester long study of 1 Corinthians.  I want to invite you join me in studying and sharing your thoughts as you read.  I will be reading the epistle, the commentary by William Barclay, and listening to a sermon series by Mars Hill pastor Mark Driscoll.  I am hoping to teach out of this book next year and would enjoy hearing your input and may even incorporate something clever you write into my messages; with full credit to you of course.  Sin City copy Here is the art we are tentatively using for the series.  I look forward to hearing from you.  Bless God in all that you do.

Blind and Disrupted

logo

I woke up Tuesday morning and began to get ready for work.  I jumped in the shower and washed up.  After getting dressed I went back into the bedroom and found my dog Whitley on the bed chewing………my glasses.  WHAT!!!.  She had actually pretty much finished them off.  The lenses were chewed up and laying besides the frames.  I called and got an appointment at the eye doctor.  Yesterday I went and got my new glasses ordered, they won’t be in until Tuesday.  ARGHHHH.  So I have been blind for almost a week now.  It reminds me of being in a remedial reading class in 3rd grade and watching the librarian in charge of the class, who was legally blind, read a read with her face literally pressed against the book.  I am nearsighted and have to get pretty close to read.  Did I mention that I love to read and I haven’t been able to all week.  I love to watch TV, but I can’t see the cable menu to see what is on.

What has been the biggest disruption in your life recently and how did you deal with it?  How far under your skin do you let thing go?  During these times do you place your trust in God or spend your time worrying?

New Skateboarder Magazine

logo

current-cover

I just got my new issue of Skateboarder magazine in the mail and it has some incredible shots.  I have noticed something about skateboarders.  Although, skateboarding is a solo sport boarders always hang out in groups.  They love to hang with each other, they encourage each other to take risks and go big.  Who do you have in your life that is encouraging you to take risks and go big.  I have several friends who encourage me in that way, especially in my spiritual journey.  They push me not just to think big, but to know that nothing is too big.  We have a lot of fun hanging out and talking and though we are in different cities now we continue to spurn one another on.
So here are the questions: Do you have someone in your life that is cheering you on and telling you to go big because you can do it?  What are they spurring you on to do?  Who are you sheering on and telling to go big?
