The Post-Apocalyptics

No this post title is not the name of my new band, thought the domains are available and I do think that it is a pretty freaking cool name for a band. I Am Legend started its run on HBO this last week. I really enjoyed the movie, but I heard that the book was very different. Yesterday the plan was to get my perscription filled and go to the library to try and check the book out. At Wal-Mart the wait to fill the script was going to be 30 minutes so I went to the books and found something to read. I picked up the book The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It is a Post-Apocalyptic tale which feel in line with the quest I was one in the first place. By the time the script was ready I was over 60 pages into the book. The cover of the book made me think that Christian Bale, of Batman fame, was going to be the star of the film version, but I just found out that it is going to be Vigo Mortensen. I don’t remember enjoying reading a book like this since reading Stephen King’s Tower series.

I can’t say enough about how excellent the writing is in this book and how drawn you will be to the story. I felt that McCarthy compelled me towards the characters in no time. I encourage you to pick up the book at Wal-Mart and give it a read over the holiday. It will give you something to look forward to all year. I am about 2/3 of the way through the book right now and can’t seem to put it down.

I will have to check that book out. Comparing it to the The Dark Tower Series places a lot of expectation on the book……maybe we should change our name to that

Luke – I used to read The Dark Tower books while listening to the Metallica Black album as the soundtrack. It if wasn't for those books and that album I would not be the reader I am today. Thank you Kirk Hammett and Stephen King.
